At 18 Russell quit work with the dream of riding a season of Pro MTB, living at home his dad was having none of it, 19 years on, and following the ideology of “Be brave, take risks, nothing can substitute experience” he has stumbled across an adventurous lifestyle and it rocks! A supporter of anyone bettering themselves, who believes nothing is more important than doing what makes you happy. “Life should be judged on the actions we take and not on the income we earn.”
For Russell 2016 was about getting on stage, speaking and compering at outdoor and adventure events as well as turning his hand to race MC for Cancer Research. With hosting events at Ellis Brigham, Snow & Rock and event compere for the National trust south west outdoor festival his passion for being the glue that brings events together soon grew, 2017 is focusing on building on this passion and also moving to in front of the camera with his own adventure bio film due out on April.
Russell is also now fulfilling a adventure dream in 2017 by working with Ordnance Survey as a #GetOutside champion, the focus to inspire, inform and help others to #GetOutside more. It doesn’t have to be scooting the length of the country or camping on the highest mountain in the country, it can be a local canal path, or buy a map and find your local trig point. Even wild camping in the garden, it all counts. As a country we spend on average 7-8 hours each outside, I dare you in 2017 to double that each and every week!
With a wealth of adventures from space hopping to kayaking, 1000 mile endurance journies and altitude mountaineering trips. To Running Paris-London, Wild camping in central London to summer sunrise climbs and most things in between, now coming into his 20th year of outdoor experience, his trip focus is to inspire and make people smile, whilst planning personal firsts in swimming and corporate adventurous weekends.
I’m so excited about 2017, seriously it’s going to expand my body and mind. I have learnt to swim, the momentum is growing for me to swim Loch Ness in September. A Bio film about me is in edit now, I’ll be producing a show reel for presenting and compering whilst focusing on my love for bikes too. It seems a packed in year yea but I once heard a quote
“Nothing changes if nothing changes”
Writing this has made me want to sit here at the table, in our flat in a leafy part of south west London this time next year and see I’ve achieved this little list below.
- Swim Loch Ness
- Grow my compere/presenting CV
- Inspire, in form and help others to #GetOutside with the help of OS
- Focusing on two bigger projects with a new friend DC..
- Learning new skills
And my little pie in the sky to do: Become a Country file Presenter, I just flipping grew up watching it and it’s a British institution! Well, thats off my chest.I hope you’ve learnt something from my “about” page, I feel the three quotes I’ve given above can be taken into any part of life at any time and be put to good use…
